Pride Poem
As I think on this let me begin
To say pride in itself is no sin
What is wrongful about pride
Is overstating what you supplied
As pride may falsely convince
That you are really a prince
You’ve put too much stock in your self worth
When it’s really just the luck of your birth
It means little if you were born pretty, strong or smart
It’s what you’ve done, or not done, that may set you apart
Now that that’s out of the way
Let me go on further to say
That if you’re not deceived
By what you’ve achieved
And it’s not just birth luck
But done by hard work and pluck
Then it’s okay to revel
And not a bit from the Devil
You’ve all right to have pride
Since you fought for the ride
Now that that is explained
For sexism I can be blamed
By focusing now on man
And his possible life plan
And I say a man may walk tall and proud
If love of woman he be endowed
Indeed a woman of depth, strength and heart
Sets the man who wins her apart
And it’s no sin of pride
To this tell the world far and wide
