Sh*tty Investor

Sh_tty Investor – unfortunately, I am a terrible investor.  My instincts seem to start from the view that I am smarter than everyone else and then lose money.  Not the best plan.  The most salient of these was my investment career in the stock market where I found stocks that went down – and even went bankrupt – during one of the largest bull markets in world history.  At age 40 – after being employed every single year since law school – I had a net worth of zero!  Pretty amazing huh?  Then I read about Warren Buffett and just like that I was cured!  I don’t mean to say I have been a ‘good’ investor since that time — I am still terrible at it.  Instead, I changed my goal from winning to not losing.  That has allowed me to do “okay” for the next 25 years.  If only I had bought a ton of bitcoin five years ago when my daughter was touting it — I smugly) told her how dumb it was.
